Currently operating 38,000 towers, Quippo-WTTIL has decided to outsource its entire IT management and IT system overhaul to IBM in a five-year deal, for an undisclosed amount. IBM will not only provide technical support and manage the hardware, mailing and infrastructure management software applications for the tower company but will also deploy server and storage support, networking and security services for Quippo-WTTIL’s hosted data centre in Gurgaon. This is IBM’s fifth such outsourcing contract in the Indian telecom space. It is already providing similar services to Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular and BSNL.
