Infonetics states, that globally about 10 trillion SMS/MMS messages are generated annually, which are vulnerable to security attacks from spammers and hackers. To safeguard communication over their networks, operators are investing significantly in security gateway solutions designed to countercheck SMS/MMS spam and related security threats.

The research firm points out, that currently the SMS/MMS security gateway market is led by global players such as Cloudmark and AdaptiveMobile. Over the next 12 months, Infonetics forecasts global SMS/MMS security gateway market to consolidate. The market is also expected to witness debut of new stakeholders such as networking/telecom equipment suppliers and network security players. Further, between 2012 and 2017, the SMS/MMS security gateway market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 56 per cent.
