Etisalat Afghanistan, a subsidiary of UAE-based telecom service provider Etisalat, has launched telecom services in Afghanistan, becoming the fourth mobile service provider in the country. With an investment of $300 million, Etisalat Afghanistan’s network will initially cover the country’s main cities, focusing primarily on low-tech voice and data services. The company’s GSM licence, issued in May 2006, is valid for 15 years and is renewable.
