The Supreme Court has admitted TRAI’s petition challenging the order of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) restricting its jurisdiction on the issue of interconnectivity agreements between telecom operators. The TDSAT order followed a petition by BSNL. TRAI had earlier directed that certain changes be incorporated in the interconnection agreements, whereby service providers with significant market share needed to publish their reference interconnect offer within 90 days of the issue of the regulation, with prior approval from TRAI. BSNL had challenged these suggestions.
