The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has called a meeting of the Multi stakeholders Advisory Group (MAG) on April 27, 2015 to discuss the issue of net neutrality. The MAG, which was constituted by the DoT in February 2014, has 39 members representing the government, industry, academia and civil society.
The DoT, in January 2015, had constituted a committee on net neutrality which was entrusted with the task of examining the economic impact of co-existence of a regulated telecom services sector and an unregulated content and applications sector, and suggest appropriate policy measures. MAG will meet the committee in face of raging debate in the country on the issue of net neutrality.
