The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is attempting to resolve the issue of the coexistence of 5G networks with aircraft radio altimeters. It will shortly start studies for opening the citizens’ broadband radio service (CBRS) band.
According to Gunjan Dave, member (technology), DoT, the department is not able to provide 5G services in the vicinity of the airports and is trying to resolve the issue. CBRS is under DoT’s active consideration and the department will shortly start studies for the opening of the band.
During her address at an industry conference organised by the ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI), Dave said that spectrum allocation is a major challenges and there is a continued need to deliberate on how to share spectrum effectively to share the future technology adoption.
Meanwhile, Gulab Chand, joint wireless advisor, Wireless Planning and Coordination, DoT, emphasises India’s success in establishing its charter on the 6 GHz band and the country’s overall success in providing enhanced ease of doing business.
