DE‑CIX has announced that it has brought Starlink on board. The satellite‑communications (satcom) player is poised to launch services across India within the next few months. The current timelines suggest Starlink could go live by late 2025 or early 2026. As per DE-CIX, Starlink will rely on DE‑CIX to supply the ground‑infrastructure support it requires. It is expected that the price of Starlink kits and plans will mirror those available in Bangladesh and Bhutan. Consequently, the user speeds are expected to range between roughly 25 Mbps and 220 Mbps.
At present, Starlink has obtained approval from Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN‑SPACe) and now awaits the final spectrum allocation from the government. At the same time, the government of India has yet to decide on the allocation method, though most assume it will opt for an administrative process.
