Taiwan’s largest phone company, Chunghwa Telecom is reportedly targeting 1 million high speed wireless subscribers by the end of 2006. The company currently has 300,000 3G users and controls 40 per cent of the 2G market. Chunghwa has formed a strategic alliance with two local distributors, Synnex Technology International and Senao International Company. The company is also aiming to reduce the average retail selling price of 3G handsets to about NT$6,000 in the third quarter from NT$10,000 at present.
