Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) has developed a 4G-long term evolution (LTE) router as well as a Wi-Fi solution that can provide connectivity in rural and remote areas.

The router, eNodeB, is likely to be launched by March 2015. It is a key component of 4G-LTE networks, facilitates service providers to economically and efficiently improve outdoor and indoor mobile service coverage.

Meanwhile, C-DoT has also designed the Broadband Wireless Terminal (BWT), which is a cost-effective Wi-Fi solution with hotspots for offering IP connectivity in villages through wireless network. The centre has already tested this solution at 180 locations. The BWT solution provides horizontal connectivity up to 10 kilometers beyond panchayat-level national optic fibre network terminal.

Further, C-DoT is working on developing data-oriented infrastructure for next generation services that include 3G GSM backhaul connectivity and IP leased lines simulation from national optic fiber network.
