Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new service called BSNL Kavach that allows women subscribers to recharge their mobile connections at retail outlets without revealing their personal mobile numbers.

The initiative aims to address concerns over weak data security practices at retail stores and outlets, which can lead to the leakage of customer contact numbers and result in harassment through unwanted calls and messages.

According to the telco, the Kavach number will be sent to subscribers through a short message service (SMS). This number can be used at retail outlets for recharging mobile connections without disclosing the user’s actual phone number.
