Sunil Mittal, chairman of Bharti Airtel, is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire a 49 per cent stake in the Indian arm of Chinese consumer electronics giant Haier, in a deal valued at around $2 billion.
Further, Mittal is said to be partnering with private equity firm Warburg Pincus for the potential acquisition, with the deal expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
However, the discussions are still ongoing, and Haier may ultimately decide against the sale, while other potential buyers could still enter the fray.
