With the in-building solution (IBS) licence for terminal-1 of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, set to expire on May 31, 2025, telecom operators Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) have jointly approached the managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BAIL) seeking approval to deploy and manage a self-built, cost-shared IBS network.

The proposed solution aims to ensure seamless mobile coverage for passengers, airport staff, and operational teams. As per the telcos, the collaborative model would guarantee uninterrupted connectivity, maintain regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency, while minimising service disruption during the transition.
