Bharti Airtel has posted its results for the quarter ended December 31, 2013.
For the period under consideration, the operator?s net profit increased by 115.1 per cent to Rs 6.10 billion, compared to Rs 2.84 billion in the corresponding period last financial year.
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel?s total revenue registered a 13.3 per cent increase to Rs 219.39 billion in the quarter under consideration, compared to Rs 193.62 billion in the same period last fiscal. Net debt reduced to Rs 576.43 billion in the period under consideration.
Segment-wise, the company stated that revenues from its mobile internet services accounted for over one-third of its overall incremental revenue. These services registered a 105.2 per cent year-on-year increase, to reach Rs 17.36 billion in the period under consideration.
Its data services, too, registered growth in this quarter-the company?s data customer base increased by 31.2 per cent to 54.4 million and usage per customer increased by 54.4 per cent, leading to a 97.0 per cent increase in total data traffic. Average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by Rs 9.70 to Rs 195.
Bharti Airtel registered growth overseas as well, during this quarter. International revenues, comprising Africa and South Asia, increased by 18.5 per cent to Rs 76.76 billion, compared to Rs 64.77 in the same period last fiscal.
However, net loss from international operations increased to Rs 11.23 billion in the quarter under consideration, compared to Rs 6.02 billion in the same period a year ago.
