Loop Telecom has approached the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) seeking a directive to the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) to release the performance bank guarantees (PBG) submitted by it, at the time of spectrum allotment. The operator has claimed to have fulfilled its network roll-out obligation in circles where it acquired licences, following which its PBG should be released.

Further, Loop has submitted that its PBG is due for expiry in the first week of December and has requested the tribunal to give interim protection, if the DoT decides to take some action against it.

With respect to this submission, the tribunal has assured the operator that if the DoT imposes any penalty or takes any action, it can challenge the same before TDSAT.

Earlier, Etisalat DB had approached the tribunal with the same argument that as per Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) terms and conditions, their PBG to be released.
