At the upcoming 3G spectrum auctions, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to auction four slots of 3G spectrum to private operators in five telecom circles, while restricting it to three private operator slots in the remaining circles on account of shortage of spectrum. The government has also announced its intention of completing the auction process by end-March 2010.
The auction for four 3G spectrum slots was earlier slated for January 14, 2010. However, the process has been delayed on account of differences between the various ministries and DoT.
