The Karnataka government has launched ?Karnataka MobileOne?, a unified mobile governance application for its citizens. The multi-modal e-governance system will provide around 4,500 services in the public and private domains to the consumers. This is the first such initiative in the country and is available across all operating systems.
The Karnataka MobileOne platform can be used for payment of utility bills and property tax, booking of railway tickets and filing of income tax returns. The platform also enables users to draw the civic body’s attention towards the non-functioning services or facilities like street lights, and also to damaged roads and garbage clearance.
The mobile governance application is developed through a public-private partnership mode with IMI Mobile. Further, the service has also been integrated with various social media websites.
In the near future, the mobile governance application will be integrated with digital media content and advertising to make it a self-sustainable model through advertisements revenues, user fees and subscription models.
