Alcatel-Lucent and Microsoft have settled six patent litigation dis putes, mostly dating back to 2002 and involving Lucent.

Microsoft, however, is pursuing an appeal against a patent dispute verdict, which it terms as invalid and for which it was directed to pay $511.6 million to Alcatel-Lucent in June 2008.

The dispute is over a technology developed by Alcatel for touchscreen form entry and the use of stylus. Earlier, the two companies were involved in a patent dispute related to digital music technology which resulted in the court directing Microsoft to pay $1.52 billion to Alcatel, one of the largest patent dispute settlement verdicts.
