Motorola has been selected by China Telecom as a key CDMA network infrastructure supplier to upgrade a portion of its nationwide CDMA2000 1x network, to include next-generation broadband data capability and advanced multimedia services.
According to the terms of the deal, Motorola will provide CDMA radio access infrastructure for 42 cities in nine provinces across China. Implementation of advanced data capability with next-generation 1x technology will enable the delivery of personalised and media-rich experiences such as video streaming and music downloads to mobile subscribers in China. The installation is likely to be completed in early 2009 and forms part of a larger project to upgrade China Telecom’s nationwide CDMA network to next-generation capability.
