As per industry sources, Sameer Batra, Bharti Airtel’s chief executive officer for broadband services, has quit from his position. Batra will reportedly now join Amazon as director for mobile business development.

Following this, Vir Indernath has been appointed as the head of the broadband vertical. Prior to this, Indernath was serving as the chief executive officer of retail business at Airtel.

Indernath has been working at Airtel for almost 13 years. He has served the organisation in various capacities during these 13 years.

Meanwhile, Batra had worked with Airtel for over 14 years in various roles. Prior to heading the broadband services business, Batra was managing Airtel’s content service, Wynk, for almost two years. Under his leadership, Airtel consolidated its digital content services, and launched Xstream service and devices.

In his new role at Amazon, Batra will work towards building partnerships and alliances with telcos, broadband service providers and OEMs across Amazon’s core consumer services.
