The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has appointed Kishore Babu as the area representative for Southeast Asia and Timor Leste, Indonesia.
Babu is the deputy director general (standards – R&D – innovation) at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He started his career as deputy general manager (enterprise telecom services) at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in October 2004, and since then has worked in the Ministry of Communications in various capacities.
Babu comes with an experience of over 30 years in various leadership positions in telecommunications policy, international relations, development programs and projects, and stakeholder engagement with national and international entities and public sector functions.
