Vodafone India has appointed Rahul Bhagat as an adviser to conceptualise its payments bank business. The operator received a payments bank licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2015. In his new role, Bhagat will be responsible for permissions, commercial planning and structuring the business in line with RBI’s expectations. He will be working closely with Vodafone’s chief operating officer (COO), Naveen Chopra. Bhagat joins Vodafone from HDFC. He has been associated with the banking industry for nearly 25 years. In the past, Bhagat has worked with ANZ Grindlays and Bank of America.
