Indus Towers has put a temporary hold on its plan to acquire 3,400 telecom towers from Bharti Hexacom, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel. The company, however, confirmed that it has completed the acquisition of Airtel’s passive infrastructure business, which includes telecom towers.
The original deal, announced in February 2024, involved Bharti Airtel selling 12,700 towers and Bharti Hexacom offloading 3,400 towers to Indus. At the time, Indus had stated that acquiring these 16,100 towers was in line with its core strategy to expand market share and support growth initiatives.
The entire transaction, valued at Rs 33.08 billion in cash, was expected to close by March 31, 2025. Though Indus has executed the purchase of Airtel’s towers, the deal involving Hexacom towers has been deferred.
