Saurabh Ghosh
Business Head, Energy Solution, AdaniConneX

Over a career of nearly two decades, spanning the construction of data centres as well as commercial, residential and IT spaces, Saurabh Ghosh has been associated with well-known brands such as Johnson Controls, Larsen & Toubro and

Voltas Limited.

Currently, Ghosh serves as the business head – energy solution at AdaniConneX, where he ensures the availability of the most cost-effective power solution for data centres operated by AdaniConneX and its customers, for their self-built projects. In a market like India, where regulations around energy sourcing for utilities can be tricky, what excites him the most about his job is the responsibility of creating strategies for sourcing green and reliable energy as a part of the company’s net zero goals. Towards this end, he also manages power purchase, open access and group captive agreements; revenue planning; devising engineering, procurement and construction solutions for hyperscale customers; and developing a water neutrality strategy for the company. Prior to leading the energy solution vertical, he was heading the MEP and power infrastructure business vertical at the company.

Ghosh believes that the technology sector is poised to see effective renewable energy sourcing for the future power needs of artificial intelligence (AI)-based data centres, along with the leveraging of AI for optimal energy utilisation. He opines that data centres will see energy-efficient cooling systems gain traction, with liquid cooling as the dominant mode. Another trend that is likely to become popular in colder areas is heat reuse, achieved by harnessing the heat generated from racks.

Reflecting on his management style, Ghosh says that he likes to support and mentor his team. “I am a servant leader and work with my team to achieve the common goal of the organisation,” he states. According to him, his biggest strengths include being able to adapt to the current trends and evolving market needs, and having a creative approach to problem-solving. His biggest weaknesses include perfectionism and overcommitment.

Ghosh holds a BE in Electrical and Electronics from SSIT, and a PG diploma in Operations from the Welingkar Institute of Management. He is also a certified data centre professional.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Ghosh is fond of listening to music, travelling and spending time with his family, which comprises his wife – an IT professional – and their children – a daughter and a son.
