Taiwan-based electronics goods manufacturing company, Hon Hai Precision Industry Corporate Limited which is a leading supplier of iPhones to Apple Inc, is reportedly in talks with Asia Pacific Telecom Corporate Limited to buy 22 per cent stake in the company.

The deal is estimated to be worth T$11 billion to T$14 billion ($464.48 million).

The telecom service provider, Asia Pacific Telecom, is currently valued at T$49.88 billion and has a subscriber base of 2.1 million. The company also has an asset portfolio comprising 3,000 wireless base stations.

Hon Hai is looking at buying a stake in Asia Pacific Telecom as it plans to diversify from being purely a manufacturing company into a provider of telecom services as well.
