The government is pulling out all stops to ensure that the forthcoming spectrum auction generates an enthusiastic response from the telecom industry.
As per news reports, the inter-ministerial panel established to examine all spectrum-related issues plans to ask the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for its recommendations on the spectrum reserve price for the upcoming auction. The regulator is to submit its recommendations within 60 days.
Thereafter, the panel will reportedly fix the reserve price in each spectrum band. Prior to this, the Planning Commission recommended that the regulator be consulted on the issue.
