The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is planning to launch a website to show real-time data of radiations emitted by mobile towers in India. The web portal would allow an individual to guage the level of radiation that he/she gets exposed to by the towers located in the neighbourhood. It is working with Cellular Operators Association of India to develop the portal.
DoT is of the view that it is important to address concerns among public about mobile radiation while working on its targets to spread broadband and mobile telephony in the country. Therefore, it has decided to come up with a website to look at level of radiation from these towers and work at reducing the emissions to less detrimental levels.
Meanwhile, on similar lines, the International Telecommunication Union launched ‘EMF Guide?, a mobile application on cellular radiation to answer the queries and concerns of people.
