The issue of various operators requesting for excess spectrum continues.
Prior to this, Reliance Communications, Aircel and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) had reportedly approached the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) in this context.
TTSL had asked for additional spectrum on grounds that it was eligible for the same, as it had achieved certain subscriber-linked milestones specified in the telecom licence.
Thereafter, TTSL had asked TDSAT to direct the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to allocate it additional spectrum for its GSM services. TTSL is looking at closing this issue before the upcoming spectrum auction.
In response, TDSAT has directed DoT to submit its reply before the tribunal within three weeks. At the same TDSAT has also directed TTSL to file a rejoinder within two weeks of DoT submitting its replies to it.
