In continuation of the Vodafone India-Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) dispute over port connectivity charges, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has established a two-member committee to examine the issue, say news reports.
BSNL has asked Vodafone India to pay a certain amount to switch the management of its mobile switching centre from Siemens to Ericsson.
BSNL had argued that shifting vendors is tantamount to surrendering its port, for which, Vodafone India will have to pay a certain amount for the entire year.
So, in this regard, the committee has been established to scrutinise whether BSNL could shift its equipment without augmenting its resources.
The committee is also to identify a timeline to shift the equipment in.
