According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total revenue of operators was Rs 500.54 billion during the quarter ended September, 2011.

Of this, Bharti Airtel accounted for almost 26 per cent of the industry?s total gross revenue at Rs 132.39 billion. It was followed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), with 18 per cent share at Rs 90.40 billion.

Vodafone followed, with 17.8 per cent share at Rs 89.15 billion, followed by Idea Cellular with 10.7 per cent share at Rs 53.60 billion and Reliance Communications (8.5 per cent share at Rs 42.60 billion.

Tata Teleservices Limited and Tata Communications held 8.3 per cent share with gross revenue of Rs 41.63 billion.
