
According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the maximum number of requests for mobile number portability (MNP) were received from Gujarat, with 0.61 million subscribers opting for the facility.
As per data provided by operators, 6.42 million mobile users applied for MNP in the country by March 2011 end, out of which 9.61 per cent requests were made from Gujarat.
The first phase of MNP was launched on November 25, 2011, while it was rolled out pan-India from January 20 this year.
According to TRAI, the maximum number of requests for MNP were received from Gujarat (0.61 million) followed by Rajasthan (0.54 million) in the Western zone. Elsewhere, Karnataka reported 0.52 million subscribers opting for MNP, followed by Tamil Nadu (0.47 million).
