Uninor, which launched its GSM-based services in December 2009, witnessed a decline in its subscriber numbers in May 2010.
During the month, it lost 8,722 subscribers. The primary reason for this is reported to be the operator’s decision to delete data services and remove subscribers who had been inactive for two months. Moreover, while the other new entrants launched their services under the per-second billing plan, Uninor followed a dynamic pricing structure that was difficult for subscribers to understand and resulted in lower uptake.
