China Unicom is in talks with Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom to jointly work on mobile application stores to promote their 3G services. According to sources, the two sides may first complete the launch of an e-book and expand the tie-up later. China Unicom, which was the first to bring Apple Inc.’s iPhone to China, is expected to soon launch its application store, UniStore. Chunghwa Telecom started selling e-books online in end-2009 and opened its first application store, Hami Apps, in May 2010. China Unicom, which has approximately 20 per cent share in the country’s mobile telecom market, aims to have 10 million 3G users by the end of 2010.
