Uninor has rolled out its mobile services simultaneously in five circles -? West Bengal, Kolkata, Maharashtra and Goa, Mumbai and Gujarat. With this, the telecom company now has a presence in 13 circles across the country. It is also gearing up to roll out services in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Uninor has attributed the delay in its pan-Indian expansion plans to the lack of clarity in equipment procurement norms. With the home ministry imposing restrictions on importing Chinese telecom gear, the company has now decided to procure network equipment from European telecom equipment vendors such as Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Ericsson for its upcoming network rollouts.
