The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) intend to take stringent action against unregistered telemarketing companies who send bulk text messages and make telemarketing calls, noted Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and IT.

He said that though the misuse is at its peak, less than 10 per cent of total mobile users have registered in the ?Do Not Call? registry.
To avoid call drops, he said the ministry has instructed all operators to ensure quality of service.
