China’s Ministry of Railways has placed a GSM-R contract with Nortel to provide new communication capabilities between trains and ground staff along the 510 km passenger line between Zhengzhou and Xi’an. The GSM-R solution will enable the transmission of voice, data and advanced European Train Control System-2 signalling data even at high speeds.
