TRAI’s National Do-Not-Call (NDNC) registry is in place. Users can register on the NDNC list through their respective telecom operators, who are required to intimate registration within 10 days. Users must stop getting telemarketing calls within 45 days of the date of registration. A fine of Rs 500 per call or per message will be levied on telemarketers who make calls to numbers registered on the NDNC list. The fine will be doubled the second time around, and in the event of a third offence, the telemarketer’s line will be disabled.
