The Malaysian government has awarded four new wireless broadband licences to emerging companies ?? Green Packet, REDtone International, YTL E-Solutions and Asiaspace Dotcom. The winners outbid 13 other applicants, including some of Malaysia’s larger telecom companies such as Maxis Communications, Telekom Malaysia and DiGi.com. The successful bidders, who are expected to roll out services by end-2007, will each invest up to $86 million during the first three years.
