Reliance Communications (RCOM) has increased tariffs by over 20 per cent, the second hike in the last six months.

This hike is applicable on the Commitment Plans prepaid vouchers. tariffs for services offered under special prepaid Also, the operator has reduced the benefits offered under these plans. For example, earlier, the voucher priced at Rs 46 offered users 200 free minutes within the operator?s network. As per the revised tariffs, the voucher entails 140 free minutes.

In October 2012, the operator had increased headline tariffs by 25 per cent – from Re 0.012 per second to Re 0.015 per second.

Commenting on the development, Gurdeep Singh, chief executive officer, wireless, RCOM, said, “After having successfully migrated our entire base to the headline tariff plan of Re 0.015 per second, we have not seen any traffic elasticity -there has been no fall in customer demand or change in usage patterns.”
