The issue of applicability of service tax on interconnect usage charges (IUC) may take a while to be resolved. The revenue department has again sought inputs from the Cellular Operators Association of India on this before finalising its position. Cellular operators have resisted application of service tax as they already pay tax on carriage and termination.
