Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has begun investing heavily to increase its subscriber base. The firm will put in close to Rs 40 billion in 2006-07 to extend its network to 4,000 towns mainly in the Uttar Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal circles. It will also invest Rs 1-1.5 billion in Punjab and Chandigarh where it will introduce tailor-made solutions to enhance its customer base by 50-60 per cent. Finally, TTSL will spend Rs 30 billion to launch operations in three additional circles by the end of this financial year.
