Following the acquisition of BPL Mobile, Hutchison Essar has rebranded its services in Tamil Nadu as Hutch. Hutch’s network has now been extended to nearly 210 towns in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to roll out value-added services such as GPRS and Hutch Mail. Hutch currently has a market share of 18 per cent, making it the third largest cellular operator in the country.
Meanwhile, it has reportedly become the first private mobile operator to cross the 2 million subscriber landmark in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal in 30 months.
