
Acording to Gartner, Inc., Nokia Corporation’s total global market share grew to 31.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2005 from 29.6 per cent in the same quarter last year. Gartner said Nokia regained its top position in Latin America and moved up to third position in North America. Motorola’s market share was 17.9 per cent, up from 15.7 per cent in the previous year, and Samsung’s was 12.8 per cent, up from 12.1 per cent. In terms of total sales, all mobile phone makers sold an all-time high of 190.5 million units, a 21.6 per cent increase over the same period last year. All regions recorded growth in the second quarter apart from Japan, which saw a small decline in demand compared to the second quarter in 2004.
