Bharti Group chairman Sunil Mittal has opposed the imposition of an entry fee on spectrum for 3G mobile services. Such a move could raise the cost of infrastructure and tariffs, he noted. These remarks came in response to Tata group chairman Ratan Tata’s proposal to charge a one-time entry fee for 3G spectrum. Tata has opposed free spectrum allocation and has proposed an amount of Rs 15 billion for access to 3G spectrum nationally.
