VSNL asks BSNL to consider leasing or buying out its infrastructure

VSNL has reportedly asked BSNL to consider leasing or buying out its infrastructure instead of setting up its own for providing ILD services. VSNL currently carries 85 per cent of BSNL’s ILD traffic. It would be in BSNL’s interest to buy out or lease VSNL’s existing ILD infrastructure instead of duplicating it for carrying ILD traffic. VSNL’s proposal comes at a time when BSNL is gearing up to set up its own ILD gateways in five cities in the next two months. Till last year, VSNL was the preferred ILD carrier for BSNL. Thereafter, it has been open to all private players, depending upon the bids submitted by them.

BSNL recently opened bids for 11 ILD sectors.
