The Telenor Group has posted Uninor?s results for the first quarter of financial year 2012.
The operator?s subscriber base increased by 3.2 million users during the quarter, thus taking its total subscriber base to 31.5 million users. Moreover, the total revenues increased by 8 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2011. This is mainly owing to the increase in user base.
Compared to the first quarter of 2011, revenues increased by 102 per cent. Also, the company?s total EBITDA loss for the quarter was NOK 622 million. Underlying EBITDA improved from the fourth quarter of 2011, as this quarter was positively affected by reversal of accruals relating to energy costs and tower rentals.
Capital expenditure was NOK 142 million. Investments were primarily related to the radio access network and the core network to cater to the increase in subscriber base. The number of tower sites reduced by 109 during the quarter, due to relocation and implementation of the cluster strategy. The number of sites at the end of the quarter was 27,863.
