Samsung Electronics has posted its results for the fourth quarter of 2012, say news reports. The company?s profit in the quarter increased by 76 per cent to KRW 7.04 trillion from KRW 4.01 trillion a year earlier. Its sales increased by 19 per cent to KRW 56.06 trillion.
The company?s mobile communications division was reportedly the main growth driver, increasing its sales by 58 per cent to KRW 27.23 trillion.
This growth was mainly driven by sales of the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II devices. For 2013, Samsung expects competition to increase, amid a slowdown in the smartphone and tablet markets. Moreover, the company is banking on emerging markets for future growth.
Meanwhile, profitability of the company?s network and IT division decreased due to competition in pricing, while the sales of LTE equipment and notebooks in overseas markets increased.
