• 4G data traffic in India more than doubled in 2018. It reported a year-on-year growth of 132 per cent, driven by an increase in 4G device penetration, heavy discounts and offers from telecom operators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and a growing digital ecosystem.
  • While 4G data traffic grew across all circles, Category B and Category C circles saw higher growth rates in 2018 than the previous year owing to network roll-outs in these circles.
  • Meanwhile, the number of 4G data users stood at 432 million in December 2018, recording a year-on-year growth of 137 per cent, driven by intense competition among operators.
