Vodafone India has withdrawn its plea challenging the recent revision of the interconnection usage charges (IUC) by the telecom regulatory Authority of India, from Supreme Court. This comes after the apex court refused to consider to the operator?s request.

Earlier in February 2015, Vodafone had moved the Supreme Court seeking stay on the new termination charges announced by TRAI through an amendment. Vodafone is of the view that TRAI should not have revised the rates as a matter pertaining to the same was pending before the Supreme Court.

TRAI has reduced the termination charges on calls made from mobile phones by about 30 per cent to Re 0.14 per minute from the earlier level of Re 0.20 per minute, besides removing such rates on calls made from a fixed line to mobiles and vice-versa. Interconnection charges are paid by a telecom service provider for using the network of other operators for transmitting and completing a call.
