Vodafone India is focusing on driving data services in West Bengal. The operator believes that the state?s smaller towns provide significant business opportunities for driving the uptake of 2G and 3G services.
Currently, data services account for 3.3 per cent and 10 per cent revenue share respectively to Vodafone India?s total revenues in the West Bengal circle and the Kolkata circles.
The operator has rolled out a mobile internet roadshow in West Bengal to drive mobile data growth in these areas. The campaign will cover towns like Beharmpore, Malda, Balurghat, Debagram, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Asansol, Kulti, among others.
Bangladesh co-owns the South East Asia-Middle East-West Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE 4) submarine cable system which runs from Singapore to France and connects Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates , Tunisia and Algeria. It is the primary internet backbone between South East Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Europe.
