Vodafone India has rolled out a mobile internet awareness program for school children in rural areas in Maharashtra.

Gammat Jammat, a mobile internet initiative from Vodafone India, is part of the company?s strategy to drive the adoption and usage of data in the rural areas of Maharashtra.

As part of the initiative, Vodafone India?s Gammat Jammat team will tour 118 rural villages over a period of three months in Maharashtra. They will engage with students from 118 schools and junior colleges and educate them regarding the relevance of mobile internet.

In addition, the operator will also host Chala Bhetuya camps at Vodafone mini stores across 118 villages to familiarise people with the applications of the internet.

Commenting on the initiative, Ishmeet Singh, business head ? Maharashtra and Goa, Vodafone India, said, ?We see immense growth potential in mobile internet and are exploring options to further accelerate mobile data adoption through network penetration, consumption and value addition.?
